Description: Stigmatomma reclinatum is also called vampire ant because certain Amblyoponinae (the name of the subfamily to which this species belongs) open their larvae at the foundation, consume the interior and then the larva heals. This species has gamergate, which means that it does not have a true queen but a fertilized worker that lays eggs. Colonies of this species only reach a maximum of 200-300 workers.
